Fashion Graduates Take Over Company Magazine

Company has once again turned its October issue into a fashion graduate 'takeover'. For the second year running, the young women's fashion magazine has enabled seven aspiring fashion journalists to become involved in all aspects of editing from conducting the cover interview and writing key features, to styling and designing the pages...

The initiative, sponsored by George at Asda, nurtures fresh talent and offers fashion students a once in a lifetime opportunity as they look to launch their careers in publishing.

Streetwear Spotlight: King & Queen Clothing

King and Queen Clothing  is a UK based street wear brand founded in 2012 by two friends, Luke Simms and Russell Hewes...

The boys wanted to establish a clothing company that reflected the things important to them; honour, love and respect which is why "Honour Love Respect’ is K & Q's slogan, obviously. One of the less obvious and rare things about this brand is that all their clothing is produced entirely within the United Kingdom and that they use 100% carbon neutral materials.

HYPE Black Collection Launches at Topman

The HYPE Black Collection launches exclusively at Topman this September...

The story behind HYPE is not your average tale. The brand was born in the hot summer of 2011, when two friends decided to do something productive with their summer break from University. With keen business acumen and an understanding of retail, after a week of late nights, (and lots of Monster Energy cans) HYPE was born.

The Ultimate LFW Survival Kit

London Fashion Week starts tomorrow and with the shows we've all been waiting for fast approaching, there's just enough time to put together your LFW Survival Kit...

Some of you might still be working with pen and paper to write your 'frow' notes, but for those more tech-savvy an iPad can double as a camera, notepad and you can also tweet those all important updates out to you loyal followers. Make sure you take along your phone charger, you won't be the only one running on empty by the end of the day, on that note, snacks are essential! Nuts are great because they aren't messy and you can pop them in between shows, plus they release their energy slowly.

Get The Look: Rihanna's Boyfriend Jeans

This week my style crush is also one of my favourite members of hip-hop royalty, it's Rihanna...

Rihanna is not usually one to keep her style pared down for a big event, but she really kept her cool amongst the sea of chiffon and lace at this years’ VMAs. Sat behind One Direction and next to the gossip-centre that is Miley Cyrus, Ri knew that she’d be focus of many camera flashes but took a gracious step back from the limelight as she was not performing this year – and came out of it looking enviably cool.

Fashion Spotlight: The Cross

Shining the spotlight on up and coming clothing brands that are worth your attention is what we do best at The Urban Fashion and Beauty Directory, and a brand I was recently made aware of is a perfect fit for today's spotlight...
Fashion Spotlight The Cross1

The Cross finds its home in West London and celebrates its 17th year anniversary this year. Owned by Sam Robinson, The Cross was interestingly one of the first ever boutiques to launch in London, back then it prided itself on sourcing unique and unknown designers to sell alongside well established brands from around the world. And this ethos can still be seen in the company today.

AAMAA a la Mode
2013-08-05

The second designer to show at Africa Fashion Week London on Saturday, AAMAA à la mode blew me away. The fusion of different cultures is apparent in this collection and designer Toyosi Mobereola has done well to showcase both traditional prints and modern designs.

Streetwear Spotlight: Supply & Demand

I've worked with a huge number of streetwear brands over the years and absolutely love the freedom of the clothing and the expressive designs that always come from these designers. Supply and Demand is one of the exceptional brands I've had the pleasure of working with, but don't just take my word for it...

IMG_1576_1

Inspiration is always key when designing a clothing brand and Supply & Demand are heavily influenced by New York street style. They use graphics to celebrate the districts and icons of New York in a unique way by using a mainly monochromatic style with injections of tie dye and paint splashes and pops of colour.

StyleSpiration: What to Wear to Work When it's HOT

I don't often use capital letters when I write, but I think the current weather in the UK warrants it. Like a lot of working Londoners, I'm finding it increasingly difficult to find appropriate work wear which doesn't reduce me to a puddle after a long tube journey, here's some inspiration...
