Review: The WITJ Natural Hair and Beauty Show

The WITJ Natural Hair and Beauty Show, one of the most inspiring shows I've ever attended,  took place on Saturday 24th September at The Grange Hotel Tower Bridge and was an assembly of like-minded naturals and hair lovers...

The day featured a series of seminars from industry experts, live styling of a range of different hair styles and types and many stalls selling products and services for natural hair. The show was organised by WITJ (that's Woman in the Jungle to you) and the day's main events were hosted on the main stage and included talks from Danielle Pond of Pure Bliss Cleanse (who passed around McDonald's chips bought in 2011 that hadn't changed AT ALL! - this means that no part of those chips was ever natural. Ugh.)

Crystal Brookes-Ford (who taught us all about the history of the afro-comb) and a seminar from Valley Fontaine with the provocative name 'The Problem with Natural Hair' (this woman is literally amazing, she taught us that the 'problem' with natural hair is not the hair, but what we do with it.)

Exhibitors on the day included Lush Cosmetics, Design Essentials, Curl Academy, Noire Essence, Mixed Roots, Mane Divas and many more. The show was a great success and I highly recommend that you keep an eye out for the next show (the date has just been announced, it will be on Bank Holiday Monday, 5th May 2014) and bring along the whole family.
